Frequently Asked Questions

  • All participants are walking on the treks, no camel riding. This allows trekkers to fully experience the environment, and also to appreciate how the camels traverse through the landscape with ease while carrying their loads of food, water and trekking equipment.

  • We travel between 12km and 15km per day, averaging about 3km per hour. It is not a race through the environment, but an experience with plenty of time to absorb the natural beauty of the changing land.

  • Good walking shoes are essential, a head torch and small day backpack with a water bottle plus spare clothes and personal toiletries.

  • You will be carrying a small day back pack during the day containing water bottle, camera and snacks.

  • We cater for all dietary requirements and allergies, including vegetarian, dairy free, coeliac, nut free and vegan.

  • We carry a UHF radio and satellite phone on all treks plus a Royal Flying Doctors medical chest.

  • You can have as much or as little contact as you like with the camels, although our camels do appreciate attention and being patted.

  • King single dome swags are provided, you just need to bring along your own sleeping bag to go inside the swag.
